Sheriffs throughout Minnesota have dealt with complicated redemption and overage issues following a mortgage foreclosure sale. Lawmaking proposals to address these issues have been made and are moving forward to the Minnesota Legislature. A legislative committee made up with attorneys in private practice, Hennepin and Anoka County attorneys, and Sheriffs’ staff have been working to recommend changes in the statutes that will give clear guidance on dealing with these redemption and overage issues

2020 legislative changes that affect your policies and procedures!

Sheriffs throughout Minnesota have dealt with complicated redemption and overage issues following a mortgage foreclosure sale. Lawmaking proposals to address these issues have been made and are moving forward to the Minnesota Legislature. A legislative committee made up with attorneys in private practice, Hennepin and Anoka County attorneys, and Sheriffs’ staff have been working to recommend changes in the statutes that will give clear guidance on dealing with these redemption and overage issues. Hear about these proposed changes and the status of this proposed legislation.

Two years ago, the Minnesota Legislature drafted language mandating that harassment restraining orders be included in the states “hot file” system. The new procedures regarding harassment restraining orders have now been instituted by the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Minnesota State Court Administrator’s Office. Hear from experts from both of these agencies explain the new processes and answer your questions and concerns regarding this new process.
