Governor Dayton Appoints Mark J. Herzing to Fill Seventh Judicial District Vacancy

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Mark J. Herzing as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District. Mr. Herzing will be replacing the Honorable Steven A. Anderson, and will be chambered at Milaca in Mille Lacs County.

“Mr. Mark Herzing has demonstrated a commendable dedication to public service, and is involved with many organizations that perform invaluable work in Mille Lacs County,” said Governor Mark Dayton. “I thank Mr. Herzing for agreeing to serve as District Court Judge for Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District.”

Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District consists of Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Morrison, Otter Tail, Stearns, Todd, and Wadena Counties.

About Mark J. Herzing: Mr. Herzing is an Assistant Mille Lacs County Attorney, where he works on wide range of the county’s criminal and civil matters. Previously, he was a teacher for the Cambridge-Isanti School District and a teacher and coach for the Milaca School District. Mr. Herzing earned his B.A. from the University of St. Thomas, his B.S. from St. Cloud State University, and his J.D. from the University of St. Thomas Law School.

Mr. Herzing has volunteered with the St. Cloud VA Health Care System, Mille Lacs County Operation Community Connect Milaca Area Event, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, I.S.D. #912 School Board, the MSBA Mock Trial Program, and the St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery. Currently, he is a volunteer with the Mille Lacs County Agricultural Society.
